About

Personal Statement

After graduating from Bangor University, I returned home to Liverpool and joined Professor Luning Liu’s team as a research technician in IIB at the UoL. My training and subsequent work in microbiology and electron microscopy led to me earning my current position here at the university as a core research support technician. In this role I offer practical support to both staff and students working in both a research and laboratory management capacity within the institute.

Specific area of focus:

The labs on the third floor of Biosciences fall mainly into the faculty of Functional and Comparative Genomics with elements from Biochemistry and Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour. Under this umbrella, there is a wide range of work being carried out, including, but not limited to: metabolic and photosynthetic pathways in both plants and cyanobacteria, molecular biological studies of bacteria and phages, biochemical projects in protein study and bioengineering. The labs are dynamic and diverse, always showcasing some of the best techniques used in biology.
