Liverpool's Musical Landscapes features on BBC Radio Merseyside

Professor Rob Kronenburg and Professor Sara Cohen recently took part in an hour long discusion on their new book Liverpool’s Musical Landscapes for BBC Radio Merseyside. Drawing an audience of 10,000 listeners, the programme is available until the 21st of August to listen to on the BBC website.

In September 2017 Julia Hallam (Communications and Media), Lisa Shaw (Modern Languages and Cultures) and Sara Cohen (IPM, Music) joined forces for three Cinema, Music, Memory and Wellbeing events, which were held at the Middleton Court day centre in Speke, Liverpool, and attended by a total of 60 older people.

In the sleeve notes to one of his two albums for children, Woody Guthrie wrote “Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make it simple.” As I discovered from my now-completed PhD on the topic of records made for children, Woody’s songs were often far from simple, yet his words have proved helpful whilst I was finishing up my thesis.
