Liverpool Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages (LLAMA)
Supported by the HLC Collaboration Fund, the LLAMA research group brings together researchers from across three HLC departments (ACE, History, and Irish Studies) who work in the interdisciplinary field of Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages (roughly the period 200-900 CE). Formed in 2023, LLAMA builds on an established intellectual strength of the School, acts as a crucial meeting point for participants in various ongoing research projects as they develop, encourages collaboration and mutual support, and offers opportunities for mentorship between researchers at different career stages.

Semester 2 Guest Lectures TBC
Monthly work-in-progress seminar
The group runs monthly work-in-progress seminars through the academic year. Two colleagues circulate drafts of their pieces of written work (monograph or PhD thesis chapter, journal article, essay for edited volume, etc). After brief introductions by the authors, we discuss the works and provide constructive feedback. If you wish to join the group and/or present, please get in touch with the organisers.
