I teach on the In-sessional English programme offering academic language and study skills support for international students. My main responsibility includes delivering discipline-specific EAP lessons, and developing modules and materials for both the In-sessional and Pre-sessional courses. I have been involved in English language teaching in higher education (of Taiwan and the UK) for over twentytwo years, with extensive experience in teaching EFL and EAP, designing and developing EAP courses and teacher training.
Interests and areas of expertise
My main research interests are in areas of vocabulary teaching and learning, EAP/ESP course and materials design, genre analysis, teacher training and development and teaching in higher education. I am currently working on two research projects: a) investigation of students’ perceptions of transferable EAP language and study skills; and b) investigation of EAP/ESP teachers’ perceptions and attitudes towards content-based and genre-based materials design. I hold an MA in Applied Linguistics and a PhD in English Language Teaching.
