I have worked in private language schools and HE institutions since 1999.  I have extensive experience with international and domestic students working as teacher, academic advisor, teacher trainer, director of studies, external examiner and module convenor for various courses in Russia, Libya, the UK and China.  These include TESOL courses, EAP pre-sessional and in-sessional programmes, selfmarketing skills, English for Nursing, IELTS preparation courses and module writing for the International Summer School at the University of Liverpool.

Interests and areas of expertise

My Master’s dissertation investigated the implementation of Communicative Language Teaching by Chinese teachers of English following a teacher training course.  This compared teachers’ intentions outlined in their reflective journals with actual changes in teaching practices thus evaluating the effectiveness of teaching interventions, reflection and reflective writing.  I enjoy working in crosscultural contexts and helping students and teachers maximise their study and work potential.  I have also spent considerable time learning foreign languages and speak Mandarin, Russian, and French with varying degrees of success.

Favourite thing about Liverpool

I like living close to Crosby and Formby for blustery walks along the beach.
