Schools of Rock 3: Ten More Iconic Liverpool Live Music Venues
5 weekly sessions on campus, on Wednesdays at 11am - 1pm, starting from Wednesday 29 April.
Overview
Following on from last summer's highly successful "Schools of Rock 2" and 2024’s popular “Schools of Rock”, this course continues the exploration of rock education in Liverpool, from the dynamic performances of The Beatles and Rory Storm at the Locarno Ballroom in 1963, the first appearance of Freddie Mercury’s – then Faroukh Bulsara - Ibex at the Sink Club (Magnet) in 1969 to the intensely emotional Hillsborough Memorial Concert at Anfield in 1996 and the majestic return of 90’s mavens Boo Radley’s at Rough Trade in 2025. This course presumes no prior knowledge, so you don't have to have enrolled in previous semesters to enjoy this one. If you are interested in most genres of rock music, Liverpool history, art, photography, graphic design and performance, then you should dig this course. All welcome!
