Studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering allows you to specialise in subjects as diverse as power generation and transmission, and antennas and digital systems design, preparing you for an exciting career within the world of modern electronics.

Electrical and Electronic Engineers create innovative solutions to some of our world’s greatest problems. From the renewable energy systems that power our lives to the smartphones we use every day, electrical and electronic engineers are in demand and have a huge impact on our society.

The Electronic Engineering and Communications pathway focuses on the design, development, and optimisation of electronic systems and communication networks. We cover topics such as signal processing, wireless communication, and embedded systems.

Year two will provide you with broader knowledge, covering the wide range of sub-disciplines within electrical and electronic engineering. In year three you will study both compulsory and optional modules and can choose your specialism. Through practical application of concepts and theory, you will develop a deep understanding of how these principles translate to real-world challenges.

Year three

In your third year, module subjects covered range from digital electronics and electronics circuits, through to electromagnetism and electromechanics.

On the 2+2 programme, you'll study your third and fourth years at the University of Liverpool. These will be year two and year three of the University of Liverpool's programme of study.

Year four

In your final year, you will undertake a major individual project that is either linked to research work or has some industrial relevance. Other modules are studied which reflect your personal interest, providing an opportunity either to focus on your preferred specialisation, or keep your options open with a broad range of subjects. In addition to compulsory modules, you choose two from the indicative list of optional modules.
