Course content

Year three

Year three has core modules in software engineering, database development, digital electronics, and signals and communication systems. You’ll spend substantial time in the electronics laboratory, completing practical work to consolidate the knowledge you’ll learn in lectures. You’ll also participate in an extended team project.

On the 2+2 programme, you'll study your third and fourth years at the University of Liverpool. These will be year two and year three of the University of Liverpool's programme of study.

Year four

In year four, you’ll complete an extended individual project. You’ll choose from COMP3290: Computer Science final-year project or  ELEC340: Electrical Engineering and Electronics final-year project.

Examples of recent final-year projects:

  • Real-time GPS tracking of a vehicle fleet by mobile phones
  • Mobile multi-user dungeon (MUD) game using SMS messaging.

You can choose lecture-based modules from both Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.
