Advanced Topics in Strategy, International Business, and Entrepreneurship

Code: ULMS596

Credits: 20

Semester: Semester 2

This module aims to leverage the world-leading expertise of the Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship department to provide students with a map of the contemporary academic landscape in these related sub-fields. In doing so, it is hoped that students will be able to identify the key contours of contemporary academic debates in strategy, international business and entrepreneurship and locate themselves within these debates. The module will be delivered through a series of academic discussions based around research conducted by members of the SIBE Group. Students will be expected to critically engage with the research that is produced by members of SIBE through classroom discussions and presentations. Aside from the substantive content of the research discussed in class, students will also be exposed to the context of a research-intensive university, developing a sensitivity to the form and grammar of academic discourse. In developing an awareness of the latest academic research and an appreciation of academic discourse, it is anticipated that students will be well-equipped to pursue independent research in strategy, international business or entrepreneurship.
