About
I am Professor of neuroimaging and neuroscience in the Institute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology (ISMIB), University of Liverpool. My main research interests are the use of advanced quantitative neuroimaging techniques, mainly magnetic resonance imaging, to understand aberrant brain mechanisms in neurological disorders, help improve imaging diagnostic accuracy and identify reliable imaging prognostic markers of medical and neurosurgical treatment. I also lead programmes of work on tissue biomarkers in neurological disorders and seek to advance clinical neuroscience research by developing and supporting NHS/clinical and academic partnerships.
I have interest and expertise in epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, traumatic brain injury, neuropathic pain, multiple sclerosis, neuro-oncology and brain infectious diseases.
I am Director of the Brain Research using Advanced Imaging in Neurology (BRAIN) lab. We specialise in the application of MRI methods to study neurological disorders and the impact of treatment on these disorders. More information can be found in the link above.
