Liverpool student wins £44,000 on lottery
A student in the University’s School of Law and Social Justice has won £44,000 on the lottery.
18-year-old Kerri Caskie from Wavertree, won the money after entering a lottery competition with the Liverpool Echo newspaper.
Commenting on the win, Kerri said: “When they told me I’d won, I just couldn’t believe it. I was shaking and my heart was pounding. I was so shocked I didn’t take anything in when he was talking to me so I had to ring the Echo back an hour later to go over it again!”
Kerri, who is in her first year studying law with criminology, is planning to use the money to help achieve her dream of becoming a criminal barrister.
She occasionally plays the lottery but was drawn to enter the ‘Win Your Student Dream’ competition in the Echo after buying the newspaper to research criminal cases for use in a tutorial.
She added: “I’ve known that I wanted to go into law for a long time and did quite a lot of work experience before starting my course at Liverpool in September. My aspiration is to do criminal law and this money will give me the means to go for it. It is a competitive field and will still take a lot of hard work and dedication to get there.
“It’s not all going to be hard work though – I think I might take some time out over the summer to treat myself to a nice holiday!
