Barbour index

A guide on what the Barbour index is and how to access its contents

The Barbour index is a database of health and safety documents, guidance and other safety related information. The index is available to all University staff albeit the licence agreement means that only a certain number of people can use it at any one time.

To access the database click on the link below. This will take you to a registration screen. Even though you are a first time user fill out the left hand panel for an EXISTING CUSTOMER. COMPANY ID will have been previously provided to you in an email from the Safety Advisers Office. USERNAME can be anything you like, though it makes sense to use your own MWS username. PASSWORD will have previously be provided to you in an email from the Safety Advisers Office. Once these three pieces of information have been entered click LOGIN (if you want to you can also tick the check box so that the website remembers you login detail). This will take you to a screen where you enter some basic details about yourself. Once you have agreed the terms and conditions of use you will be able to access the system.
