Personal Statement

The Placement Office’s role within the School of Health Sciences is to help allocate students to placements within NHS Trusts and Private, Independent & Voluntary Organisations (PIVOs) across the UK; primarily in the North West and the Republic of Ireland and also help set up and monitor the e-portfolios and evaluations attached to each placement. The Office is the point of contact for the mentors, practice placement facilitators (PEFs) and supervisors who are training our students out on placement.

Alan has specific responsibility in the School for:

• Management of PSS Staff in the Placement Office
• Administrator of placements for the Orthoptics Programme
• Lead for the InPlace Allocation system
• Lead for the Online PARE E-Portfolio
• Administrative support for the PebblePad E-Portfolio
• Administrative lead for the Elective Placements
• Point of contact for e-Learning for Healthcare
• Point of contact for the Student Data Collection Tool (SDCT)

Alan is a member of the Practice Placement Working Group


Outside of the School Alan is a member of the Joint Admin HEI group and the Joint InPlace HEI Operational Group and is currently Chair of the Cheshire & Merseyside PARE Working Group
