About

I’m a PDRA in both the Centre for Proteome Research and Pain Research Group. I completed my PhD in pharmacology in 2020 at the University of Adelaide, Australia and have been working in mass spectrometry since joining to the University of Liverpool in 2021. I’m currently funded by the Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust and have previously worked on projects funded by Merck and Johnson & Johnson. I have two ongoing research projects:

1. Investigating Autoantigens to Immunoglobulin G in Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS)

My primary research project focuses on Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) which is an autoimmune disease mediated by autoreactive IgG antibodies. Using mass spectrometry, we aim to identify the protein targets of autoreactive IgG antibodies which we can then utilise as potential therapeutic targets for the disease.

2. Identifying Novel Biomarkers for Drug-Induced Liver Injury (DILI)

I also have an independent research project with Professor Chris Goldring and Professor James Dear from the University of Edinburgh. There is an urgent need for clinically sensitive and specific biomarkers for drug-induced liver injury (DILI) which is a common and debilitating side effect of drug therapy. Using mass spectrometry, we aim to develop a platform to identify and validate novel biomarkers for DILI which we can translate to a point-of-care diagnostic test to be used in clinical practice.
