About

Becky is a veterinarian and qualitative social researcher with an interest in understanding and supporting human-animal relationships and multispecies wellbeing. With a background spanning clinical veterinary practice, academia and industry, Becky commenced her role as Lecturer in 2026. Becky is passionate about veterinary education and the continued development of veterinary professionalism, communication and ethical veterinary care. Becky is completing her residency in animal welfare, ethics, and law with the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine.

Becky's research adopts qualitative approaches to study human-animal relationships, both within and beyond the veterinary clinic. Her previous research has investigated owners' and veterinarians' approaches to the care of older horses and she has undertaken ethnographic research in the veterinary clinic exploring chronic pain diagnosis and treatment decision making. With a continued emphasis on relationships, Becky's recent work in industry has focused on the complexities of human wellbeing within the context of companion animal care.
