Franklyn N. Egbe is a Wellcome Accelerator Research Fellow in the Brain Infection and Inflammatory Group (BIIG).
His main research focuses on assessing protein biomarkers associated with neurological injury in brain infections, particularly encephalitis, and leverages brain injury biomarker profiling and clinical metagenomics to improve diagnosis.
With a strong network of global research contacts, Franklyn is passionate about using translational research to improve health outcomes.
Previously a Research Fellow at the University of Lincoln and Queen’s University Belfast, and Head of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at the Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory in Cameroon.
Franklyn has previously worked as part of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver clinical trials, biomedical research, and build laboratory capacity in the diagnosis of infectious diseases in Africa.
