Irene graduated from the University of Córdoba (Spain) in 2018 and moved to the south of England the following year, where she spent four years working as a first-opinion veterinarian. During this time, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Small Animal Emergencies.
Her interest in neurology began during her rotating internship, where she discovered a passion for the discipline and a desire to pursue advanced training. She went on to complete an ECC internship, gaining confidence in managing neurological emergencies and providing critical care to these patients in a well-established ICU.
Irene then undertook a focused neurology and neurosurgery internship in a busy private hospital in Swindon, which she completed shortly before starting her ECVN residency in January 2026.
Irene´s primary clinical interests include neurosurgery and the management of neurological emergencies.
Outside of work, Irene enjoys spending time with family and friends or relaxing with her cat, Kiwi, and her whippet, Pomelo. She also loves staying active—especially through CrossFit.
