About
Fiona completed her Undergraduate and PhD studies in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Liverpool in 2019 and 2024, respectively. Her research interests centre predominantly around leukaemia biology, and specifically the role of Ras mutations in drug resistance models of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. During her post-doctoral studies, she has worked on utilising in vitro techniques to depict the underlying causes of drug resistance in leukaemia. She has presented this work at numerous international conferences, including the World Congress in Pharmacology.
Fiona’s teaching responsibilities encompass a range of areas in Pharmacology across our suite of undergraduate programmes in the School of Biological Sciences. She promotes an active learning style in lectures and teaching sessions, and is keen to develop novel methods to further improve student engagement, confidence and outcomes. She is currently pursuing this line of research whilst studying for the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, and plans to further this work during future scholarship opportunities. She is currently Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
