Research
I am a Leverhulme Early Career fellow at the University of Liverpool. My academic journey reflects my continued interest in text, narratives, national identity, conflicts, and memory. I have an MA in English Language and World Literature (2004, Poltava State Pedagogical University, Ukraine), and an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies (2016, University of Manchester, UK). My PhD thesis (University of Manchester, 2021) analysed the commemorative activity of ordinary people in Central Ukraine, focusing on memorials to the Euromaidan protests (2013-2014) and the Russia-Ukraine war (covering the period from 2014 to 2021).
My post-doctoral research examines how popular music in Ukraine narrates the Russia-Ukraine war after Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, and focuses on such topics as historical narratives, cultural resources and coping, narratives of Ukraine as a political entity, language and post-coloniality, mental maps, war and trauma.
