About

I am a biologist and bioinformatician currently working on the VEuPathDB team at the University of Liverpool. VEuPathDB is a database platform supporting research on eukaryotic pathogens, vectors, and hosts and my work focuses on pan-genome analysis and the structural and functional annotation of these organisms, contributing to this resource.

My background is in Genetics and Molecular Biology, with a Master’s and PhD from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), where I studied the evolution of transposable elements in Drosophila. Recently, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Liverpool, investigating transposable element invasions and the host's adaptation to them.

I also carried out postdoctoral research at Instituto Carlos Chagas (Fiocruz-PR, Brazil), where I worked on a range of projects, including the development of expression vectors for Trypanosoma cruzi, evolutionary analyses of gene families and transposable elements in trypanosomatids, and the development of transposition systems for mammalian cell transfection.
