Award
Receive up to £7,500 off your tuition fees. The discount you’re eligible to receive varies by course.
All tuition fee discounts are capped at 50% of the relevant fee.
Eligibility criteria
To receive this scholarship you must:
- be joining an eligible postgraduate taught programme, at the campus in Liverpool, from September 2024. See the list below for details of eligible courses.
- be paying the tuition fees for the course yourself at the overseas/international rate
- accept your offer of a place and pay your tuition fee deposit by the deadline indicated in your offer letter.
We won't be able to offer you this discount if you:
- studied at Liverpool International College, XJTLU or completed your undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool. If you're a University of Liverpool graduate, you could be eligible to receive a tuition fee discount through our University of Liverpool Graduate Loyalty Advancement Scholarship
- will be studying online
- are having your fees paid by a sponsor, such as a government, commercial organisation or employer, on your behalf.

If you’re an international student joining a postgraduate taught programme that isn’t listed above, you may still qualify for a discount on your tuition fees, worth up to £5,000.
Discounts are available to eligible international students with a first-class degree, or equivalent qualification, and those from Commonwealth countries.
Got a first-class degree or equivalent qualification?
A discount of £2,500 is available for eligible international students with a first-class degree or equivalent qualification.
You must:
- be joining a postgraduate taught programme, at the campus in Liverpool, that isn’t one of the courses listed above
- be paying the tuition fees for the course yourself at the overseas/international rate
- achieve a first class degree or equivalent qualification as defined by the University of Liverpool.
We won't be able to offer you this discount if you:
- studied at Liverpool International College, XJTLU or completed your undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool. - are being sponsored, for example by your government or a commercial organisation
- are undertaking the MArch programme or an MPhil qualification
- will be studying online

- are having your fees paid by a sponsor, such as a government, commercial organisation or employer, on your behalf.
From a Commonwealth country?
A £2,500 fee reduction is available for eligible international students from Commonwealth countries who are new to master's study at the University of Liverpool.
You must:
- be from a Commonwealth country. See The Commonwealth website for details of member countries
- be joining a postgraduate taught programme that isn’t one of the courses listed above.
We won't be able to offer you this discount if you:
- studied at Liverpool International College, XJTLU or completed your undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool. - will be studying online
- are having your fees paid by a sponsor, such as a government, commercial organisation or employer, on your behalf.
Please note, for the purpose of your student visa application, this is not a ‘Commonwealth Scholarship’. When completing your student visa application, you should select ‘No’ if you're asked if you're in receipt of a ‘Commonwealth Scholarship’.
How to apply
No application is necessary. The University of Liverpool Postgraduate Global Advancement Scholarship will be awarded to all eligible students who meet the criteria.
This award has no exchangeable cash value. We reserve the right to withdraw the scholarship at any time and/or if programme capacities are reached.
