Research Overview

My core research interest is the idea of narrow banking -- a system where governments provide liquidity and banks provide credit. I have a neat theory paper on exactly this co-authored with another long-time fan of narrow banking: George Pennacchi. I'm currently exploring how CBDCs might be a modern way of implementing this old idea. Micro-theory is my favourite type of research but with a sector like banking, you can't avoid the macro-consequences. Do get in contact if you are interested in this sort of thing.

I've also done quite a bit of work on macro-prudential policy, and particularly the context and size of benefits to coordination.
