    About

    Personal Statement

I joined the Management School in 2016 as a senior lecturer in sport business management and I am currently Director of Studies for the Online MSc Sport Business and Management teaching modules relating to leadership and sports operations management on the Thoroughbred Horseracing Industries MBA and MSc Sport Business. I also deliver executive education programmes on leadership for a range of organisations from small businesses to elite sport. My PhD, from the University of Sheffield, examined graduate employability in the sport industry focusing on transition into the workplace. I also have an MSc in Leadership Practice and Responsibility from Lancaster University and an MBA. I am accredited by the British Psychological Association to undertake personality and ability assessments, in particular Myers Briggs Typology Inventory (MBTI) and 16 PF.

I am subject editor for sport for the Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Education and have published in peer- reviewed academic journals on graduate employability and careers, and managing change in elite sport. I am also co- author of the Routledge textbook: ‘Human Resource Management in the Sport and Leisure Industry’. Prior to entering academia I worked in sports facilities management and am still actively involved in the sport industry as a community director/board member for Burnley Leisure Trust.
