About

Personal Statement

I am a biologist working at Dr Andrea Betancourt's lab, helping to investigate the process of transposable element invasions and their selective impact on Drosophila species.
I have a background in Genetics and Molecular Biology, having completed my Master's and PhD at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), where I focused on researching the evolution of transposable elements in Drosophila. Following my PhD, I conducted postdoctoral research at Instituto Carlos Chagas (Fiocruz-PR, Brazil), exploring diverse areas such as the construction of expression vectors for Trypanosoma cruzi, evolutionary studies of gene families and transposable elements in trypanosomatids, and development of transposition systems for mammalian cell transfection.
