Personal Statement

Popular radicalism in 19th Britain; Irish migration; Celticism, the Isle of Man and the Irish Sea; the modern history of Liverpool. I am actively involved in plans to mark the 800th anniversary in 2007 of the granting of letters patent to Liverpool, and was involved in successful bids for the city to become European Capital of Culture in 2008 and to acquire UNESCO World Heritage status.
