Other routine healthcare
In addition to vaccinations and dentistry, the practice veterinary team can perform a variety of healthcare checks and relevant tests. We provide tailored advice to help keep your horse, pony, or donkey in the best possible health and minimise the chance of future problems.
We are always happy to provide clients with a range of options and associated costs.
See below for some of the services we offer – if you could like to ask about these or other services we can provide and associated costs of these please contact our reception team on 0151 794 6199 or email equinepr@liverpool.ac.uk.

Export certificates
Moving horses abroad, whether it is to Northern Ireland, Europe, or the rest of the world, requires UK government-approved documentation. To process these, an 'official veterinarian' (OV) is required to not only complete the paperwork but also perform a pre-movement health check.
For more details about the paperwork and blood tests required, please visit the UK government website Export horses and ponies: special rules.
We are happy to offer this service as we have an OV at the practice. However, you must provide sufficient notice for us to obtain documentation from the transport company and enough time to process all appropriate paperwork. As we have a sole OV at our practice, this service is also dependent on vet availability. Whilst we will endeavour to accommodate every request, please be aware it may not always be possible.
Due to this, we advise early as possible requests to the office to check and confirm availability. For more details about costs and availability, please contact our reception team on 0151 794 6199 or email equinepr@liverpool.ac.uk.
Working with other equine healthcare professionals
We work closely with other paraprofessionals including registered farriers, BEVA-accredited equine dental technicians (EDTs), and ACPAT-registered physiotherapists. We believe this is important to provide a holistic, high-quality, and coordinated approach to equine healthcare and are always happy to discuss various options for you and your horse, pony, or donkey.
