We provide a comprehensive 24-hour-a-day emergency service all year round for our practice clients.
Our veterinary practice team lives locally and our small catchment area enables a rapid veterinary response.
How to contact us
Please call 0151 794 6199 for emergency advice or veterinary attendance. Outside normal working hours, our call provider will take your details which will be quickly passed to the duty equine practice vet for them to call you back.
If you do not hear from them within 10 minutes, please call the emergency call service and they will contact the duty vet again.
Expertise and equipment
Our fully equipped practice vehicles and practice equipment including x-ray machine, ultrasound and endoscope allow us to examine your horse at the premises. The practice team are all experienced equine veterinary surgeons who have undergone a range of post-qualification training enabling them to be able to deal with a range of emergency situations from veterinary problems to helping perform large animal rescues with local fire and rescue services.
Hospital facilities and veterinary monitoring
In the event that your horse requires 24-hour veterinary hospital care and monitoring, isolation facilities, specialist investigations or advanced treatment, our vets will discuss management options and likely costs of treatment following individual case assessment.
On site specialist veterinary care
The Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital based at Leahurst provides internationally renowned advanced assessment and treatment including surgery, anaesthesia, and intensive care by our colleagues.
We can arrange rapid referrals of our patients who can travel a short distance to the hospital for emergency assessment and management. Equine practice clients also receive discounted treatment at the hospital, please ask our vets or reception team for details.
