Equine pain clinic
Our equine pain clinic is dedicated to improve the quality of life of horses with pain, whether it be acute pain or chronic discomfort.
We accept referrals from first opinion and other referral vets. After we have received a referral from your vet, a consultation will be booked, and your horse will be seen by one of our expert anaesthetists. This is currently a clinic which only runs at the hospital, so we cannot see horses at home. Our fully equipped hospital facilities allow us to use the latest technology and techniques in pain diagnosis and treatment allowing us to deliver the best possible care.
For enquiries please contact Dave Stack on 07867186317 or Alex Gillen on 07388802466 / 07825452869.
Services
Comprehensive pain evaluation and diagnosis
Every horse is unique. We conduct thorough, individualised assessments to diagnose and treat pain, using a combination of clinical exams, dynamic lameness assessment, imaging, and diagnostic tests. We also offer consultation for performance and behavioural pain issues.
Acupuncture and advanced pain relief techniques (including nerve blocks, regional analgesia, etc.)
We offer a range of pain management approaches, from medication and acupuncture to procedures such as nerve blocks and regional analgesia. Each treatment plan is specifically tailored to address the specific condition of your horse.
Chronic pain management (including laminitis, arthritis, etc.)
For horses affected by long-term pain due to chronic conditions such as laminitis, osteoarthritis and soft tissue injuries, our holistic approach combines pain management strategies with rehabilitation to restore mobility and comfort.
Post-surgical pain care
We work alongside the surgical team in the hospital to ensure horses undergoing surgery have optimal pain relief after their surgery. Some horses also benefit from ongoing treatment at the pain clinic to aid in recovery, with the aim of reducing chronic pain in our patients.
Advice on rehabilitation and physical therapy and ongoing monitoring and support
We can also give advice on other areas such as general management and feeding to optimise your horse’s health and support clients to provide the best management for horses who are affected by pain.
