Medical investigations
Our hospital team of internal medicine specialists offer a wealth of experience and an extensive range of diagnostic services to thoroughly investigate a variety of equine health concerns. This can range from common issues such as recurrent colic, unexplained weight loss and poor performance, through to unusual conditions such as rare forms of cancer.
Comprehensive diagnostics
We provide a range of standard and advanced diagnostic tests. Our digital weight scales also allow us to monitor weight precisely over time, providing important data for long-term management.
Tests include abdominal and thoracic ultrasonography, gastroscopy, endoscopy, blood tests and biopsies that are assessed by our on-site team of specialist pathologists. Some cases may require more advanced imaging, such as computed tomography or exploratory surgery, to enable a diagnosis to be made.
Multidisciplinary care and tailored approach
Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that each case benefits from the combined expertise our hospital team can provide. Our breadth of veterinary expertise enables cases to undergo a concurrent assessment by specialists across a range of areas including lameness, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, imaging and pain management.
Treatment plans are tailored to achieve the best possible outcome for an individual case. The range of options available, associated costs and likely prognosis are discussed enabling owners to make informed choices.
Dedicated facilities and supportive care
Every horse’s needs are unique, and we offer flexible options for both in-hospital care and at-home management. Hospitalisation is available for intensive monitoring and therapy, but some cases can have specifically designed care plans to enable them to be managed at home in conjunction with their usual veterinary surgeon.
Our intensive care facilities include specifically designed mare and foal stables allowing us to provide round-the-clock supportive care for young foals or critically ill horses. This includes continuous fluid infusions, stable-side blood monitoring, oxygen therapy, and feeding tube placement as needed. We also have a state-of-the-art isolation unit for horses with infectious conditions.
