Information for owners
Find out how you can get your horse, pony or donkey referred and treated at the hospital.
If you would like to have your horse assessed at the hospital, please contact us. We may need a referral from your horse's usual veterinary surgeon. This ensures that we have the relevant history about your horse’s current condition, such as results of blood tests or images obtained and details of any adverse drug reactions or other issues we need to be aware of. This ensures appropriate treatment is performed safety.
Initial enquiries by owners
Please contact the equine reception team on +44 (0)151 794 6041 or equinereception@liverpool.ac.uk and we will be happy to help.
Please note that it can be difficult to provide exact details about likely costs of assessment and treatment, or the expected duration of hospital stay, without a relevant veterinary history from your usual vet.
In some cases, especially for more complex or unusual conditions, this information may not be available until your horse has undergone an initial assessment by the hospital team.
Costs and duration of stay
The clinical team will discuss costs for assessment and treatment, along with the duration of your horse’s stay after the initial assessment. This allows you to provide informed consent for veterinary treatment and associated costs. The clinical team are always happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding this.
