Operating theatres
We have two highly equipped operating theatres for orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures. These are ready to treat emergency cases 24 hours a day, alongside a wide-ranging elective surgery workload.
Specially adapted recovery boxes, both with and without rope-recovery systems, depending on your horse’s needs, allow your anaesthetist to facilitate your horse’s recovery. Our £1.8m intensive care unit is situated close by for your horse’s post-operative needs.
Our standing surgery suite allows procedure to be performed without general anaesthesia where possible. Many procedures, such as some mass removals, upper airway surgery, and laparoscopy can be performed under sedation, negating the need for general anaesthesia.
The operating suites are fully-equipped to perform highly specialist procedures such as colic surgery, carbon dioxide and diode laser surgery, TACE, fracture fixation, and laparoscopy, as well as surgery of the eye, airway, and urogenital tracts.
Both theatres are equipped with state-of-the-art machines for administration and monitoring anaesthesia, by our dedicated anaesthesia specialists.
