My first job teaching English as a Foreign Language was in 1990 in Brazil and since then I have also taught in Germany, the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Jordan and, of course, in the UK.  I have worked with a number of different institutions in both higher education (e.g. Leeds University, Masaryk University) and for private language schools.  I also spent 8 years working with the British Council, where I worked directly with the Jordanian Ministry of Education in developing their national teacher training programme, and designed a series of training videos for teachers when working as the Global Product Manager based in Manchester.  I have been involved in teaching students at the University of Liverpool since 2011 and have taught on Pre-Sessional, In-Sessional, Activate and Teacher Training courses.

Interests and areas of expertise

I still very much enjoy classroom teaching and am particularly interested in teaching at higher levels.  I am also a recognised teacher trainer and enjoy working with overseas teachers in developing a student-centred communicative approach to teaching.  I am also interested in exploring new ways that pronunciation can be developed in the classroom that is both fun and accessible for students.

Favourite thing about Liverpool

I really like that Liverpool offers so many excellent venues for live music from The Shipping Forecast to the Philharmonic.
