How you'll learn
Research-connected teaching begins in the first year with introductions to quantitative, qualitative, theoretical and critical methodologies, which are embedded throughout the programme. Interactive lectures are complemented by seminars, workshops, computer lab sessions, dissertations and placements, which form the core of our active learning approach. Students develop research, analytical, digital and communication skills through engagement with global politics, policy challenges and real-world issues.
How you're assessed
We use a rich variety of assessment methods to develop students’ academic, professional and transferable skills. Essays, exams and presentations enable students to practise core writing and speaking skills, while authentic assessments such as policy briefs, blogs, reflective logs, group projects, podcasts and speeches allow students to communicate ideas in a range of formats. Assessment tasks increase progressively in complexity throughout the degree, culminating in independent research projects, dissertations and placement-based work.
