About this course
From the underlying principles to the very edge of modern technology, this programme will cover all aspects of Computer Science and ensure that when you graduate you will know exactly what is and isn't possible with computers.
Introduction
Artificial Intelligence is one of the most important and cutting-edge sub-fields in Computer Science. It’s transforming industries from technology, robotics and finance to healthcare, creative and third sectors.
Shaped by our world-leading research in data science, machine learning, robotics and AI+, on the Artificial Intelligence pathway programme students learn the key facts, principles, and concepts of computer science. You will engage with the challenges of modern artificial intelligence, while developing specialist expertise in AI theories, methods, and applications.
In your first year, you will build a solid grounding in the fundamentals of computer science, covering programming, computer systems, data structures, algorithms, and the basics of artificial intelligence.
In Years Two and Three you will expand your knowledge of key concepts and skills related to software development and database development. You will also choose modules from a range of specialism topics including Theory of Computation, Data Science, Biocomputation, Computer Vision, Multi-Agent Systems, Data Mining and Robot Perception and Manipulation.
On this pathway, you will graduate with the degree title Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence)
In addition to Artificial Intelligence pathway within Computer Science, the University of Liverpool also offers a specialist degree programme – Artificial Intelligence BSc (Hons).
