About

Personal Statement

Lauren received her MChem in chemistry in 2015 and her PhD in chemistry in 2019 from the University of St Andrews, where her doctoral work was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Russell Morris FRS. Her research was performed in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, and focused on toxic gas adsorption and water stability in metal–organic frameworks and activated carbon composite materials.

She then joined the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge in 2020 as a postdoctoral research associate, working with Dr Thomas Bennett on the synthesis and characterisation of hybrid glasses formed from metal–organic frameworks and hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites.

She received the 8th Federation of European Zeolite Associations PhD prize for her doctoral work, and was awarded the British Zeolite Association Founders’ Award in 2021.

Lauren joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Liverpool in October 2022 as a Lecturer in inorganic chemistry, where her research interests lie in the properties and applications of hybrid materials, glasses and composites.
