Personal Statement

Iain Jackson is Professor of Architecture at the University of Liverpool. He is an architect and has previously worked in private practice, mainly on educational and school projects. His PhD research catalogued and surveyed Nek Chand’s Rock Garden in Chandigarh India (funded by the AHRC), and his drawings are now held in the permanent collection of the John Michael Kohler Arts Centre, Wisconsin. He has recently co-written a book on the works of Edwin Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew, with particular focus on their projects in India and West Africa (Funded by Leverhulme Trust), and is currently researching early-mid 20thC Ghanaian architecture.
Together with Simon Pepper and Peter Richmond he has also been researching the works of Herbert Rowse, and a monograph will be published by Historic England in 2019.
