A lecturer from the School of Allied Health Professions and Nursing has taken the conversation about therapeutic radiography across the Atlantic, appearing on a leading American podcast to discuss international education, collaboration and inter-professional learning.
Danny Blair, Lecturer in Therapeutic Radiography and Oncology, recently featured on Friends of the Profession - a regular series from The RAD Position podcast.
The episode, hosted by Melissa B. Pergola (CEO of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists) and Ray Arambula, was released on 19th February.
The discussion also included contributions from Chaundria Singleton and Sal Martino, bringing together perspectives from across the radiologic professions.
Danny initially contacted the podcast team to explore how therapeutic radiographers are trained in the United States compared to the UK. His enquiry was driven by a desire to better understand how the School might support students from the US who wish to train in Liverpool before returning home to practise.
Following that conversation, Danny and his colleague Rebecca Jopson were invited to appear on the podcast after sharing details of their own work on inter-professional learning.
While Rebecca was unable to attend the recording, Danny represented the University in the episode, discussing therapeutic radiography education in the UK and highlighting the University of Liverpool’s approach.
The hosts were particularly interested in the School’s own podcast, the LivIPL Podcast. LivIPL is a student-led, award-winning, multidisciplinary podcast that explores inter-professional learning through the voices of academics, clinical professionals, researchers, patients and students.
Co-hosted by Danny and Rebecca, the podcast reflects the School’s commitment to collaborative practice and innovation in healthcare education.

Danny’s appearance on The RAD Position reflects a wider interest in how therapeutic radiography and inter-professional learning are approached at the University of Liverpool.
The episode also provided an opportunity to contribute to ongoing international conversations about collaboration, shared learning and professional development within the field.
