The goal of our Centre for Sports Business is to advance knowledge and practice in the business of sport. It's a leading research hub that generates practical insights to support best practice and decision-making across a variety of sports.

With a multidisciplinary team of experts, the Centre helps advance knowledge and practice in a wide range of areas. This includes regulatory changes in football governance, gambling and match fixing. The Centre also builds predictive models based on team and players' performance analytics and provides advice to tackle gender equality in football boards.

The Centre provides consultancy services to sports organisations, governing bodies and commercial partners, such as the Premier LeagueUEFAEverton Football Club, and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, to help them address strategic, operational and market development challenges.

Who will win the World Cup 2026? That's a question Professor Ian McHale and Dr Benjamin Holmes are trying to answer using the latest machine learning technologies. Having successfully built a model to predict the Euro 2024 results, the team are refining their work to predict this year's big results.

With an impressive background as a football executive and consultant, Dr Rick Parry is part of the University’s Foundation Leadership Team and Chairman of the Management School’s Liverpool Advisory Board.

Rick’s career includes top roles in UK football. He became the first Premier League Chief Executive Officer in 1991 and worked as a Chief Executive at Liverpool FC from 1997 to 2009. He's also worked on a variety of international consultancy projects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, the United States and Mexico.

At the Management School, Rick leads a group of industry experts who help us design high-quality programmes in line with employers’ demands. He shares his vast expertise with our Football Industries MBA students.
