Annual Summer Lunch 2019
On Tuesday 10 September 2019, Professor Dame Janet Beer spoke at the ULWC’s annual Summer Lunch about her career journey to becoming Vice-Chancellor at the University as well as exploring her academic interests in American literature and the life of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Edith Wharton. Dame Janet has an established record of research in late 19th and early 20th century American literature and culture and contemporary Canadian women’s writing.
The members attending were delighted that Dame Janet came and spoke to the group, which was held in the stunning School of the Arts Library, 19 Abercromby Square. This is the 3rd of the Club’s annual Lunches at 19 Abercromby and we are already thinking ahead to the guest speaker for next year.
