    Personal Statement

    Richard is a veterinary gradute from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. After graduating he spent 1 year in a small animal practice job in Stoke-on-Trent. In 2000 he undertook and was awarded an MSc in neuroscience by research from the University of Ediniburgh. After some time locuming, he returned to the University of Edinburgh and completed 3 years of post-graduate training in veterinary pathology. After the residency he stayed at Edinburgh for a PhD project in virology, and his PhD was awared in 2010. Richard arrived in the University of Liverpool in 2010, and became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2013. Richard's main reserach interests are in infectious disease but he collborates on a wide variety of projects with staff accross the clincial departments.
