About
After completing my undergraduate studies in Ukraine, I pursued advanced education in the United States. As a PhD student and later a postdoctoral research associate, I investigated genome stability using non-pathogenic yeast and filamentous fungi model systems—research with direct relevance to understanding human cancers.
I currently serve as the Senior Scientific Outreach and Education Specialist for FungiDB.org, a FAIR-compliant online knowledgebase for fungal and oomycete species, hosted by the VEuPathDB.org platform. FungiDB integrates omics datasets and bioinformatics tools into an intuitive web-based interface, supporting data mining and visualisation for the global research community.
In this role, I act as a liaison between FungiDB and the fungal and oomycete research communities, ensuring their evolving needs are reflected in the resource’s development. I also drive components of internal and external projects, contribute to data integration and quality assurance, and support collaborative efforts across the VEuPathDB team. Furthermore, I lead international training initiatives, including hands-on training on web-based bioinformatics databases, organising workshops and webinars, and presenting at scientific conferences. I also support writing of grant proposals, scientific publications, and user queries through the FungiDB help desk.
