  • Entry requirements: The normal requirement for entry onto a taught programme is a mid 2:1 or equivalent undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study.

Tuition fees (Home)

The University's tuition fees are normally fixed at yearly intervals and follow Government guidelines on minimum levels. The normal tuition fee for Home (UK) postgraduate taught students per year (for the academic year 2023/24, unless otherwise specified) are stated below.  Please note that part-time fees are charged at 50% of the full-time fee shown below per year (unless otherwise specified). 

In addition to your tuition fees, you may incur other costs in relation to your studies such as photocopying in the library, buying textbooks and specialist equipment or going on field classes. See our study costs page for full details.

International students are required to pay the full costs of their tuition in the UK with each university setting its own international fees. 

The University of Liverpool's fees represent excellent value for money for a Russell Group University. The normal tuition fee for full-time international postgraduate taught students per year (for the academic year 2023/24, unless otherwise specified) will be as follows:

Financial Support

In addition to AHRC funding for Masters students, we offer several bursaries for applicants to our MA and MSc programmes. We also award generous book allowances to students who are successful in their applications for AHRC funding.

These bursaries are open to applicants for any of our MA and MSc programmes; priority will be given to those intending to continue to doctoral research.

A range of awards, scholarships and bursaries are available for those undertaking postgraduate study at the University.

Doctoral Studentships

Arts and Humanities Research Council BGP studentships are available each year for our programmes, although precise availability for each programme varies. Our students have had considerable success in gaining the University and Faculty studentships as well, especially the Duncan Norman and Alumni and John Lennon studentships.
