Paying your tuition fee deposit

We operate a tuition fee deposit scheme for international applicants to our master's courses.

If you receive a conditional or unconditional offer of a place for one of our master's courses and wish to accept it, you'll usually need to a pay a tuition fee deposit of £2,000. Tuition fee deposits are paid through our authorised payment partner, CIBC.

The University will only issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) once we've received your tuition fee deposit, you've accepted your offer of a place, and any academic requirements have been met.

Refunds

You should be sure you wish to accept your offer of a place prior to paying your tuition fee deposit.

The tuition fee deposit is non-refundable other than in certain circumstances. These include situations that are outside of your control or where you can demonstrate that you’ve made every effort to meet the conditions of your offer but been unable to do so.

Refund criteria

The circumstances in which you may be eligible for a refund include where you’re:

  • Notifying us of your right to cancel within 14 days of paying your tuition fee deposit online
  • Refused a student visa. You'll need to submit a copy of the visa refusal document which will be verified by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). You won't be eligible for a refund if your visa application is deemed non-genuine by the UKVI, or if it’s declined due to incorrect, misleading or incomplete information
  • Refused ATAS clearance
  • Unable to join your intended master's due to the course being cancelled or suspended
  • Unable to travel to Liverpool for the course start date due to exceptional circumstances, such as government restrictions
  • Unable to meet the conditions of your offer by the relevant deadline. Evidence of how you’ve tried to meet your offer conditions will need to be provided
  • Impacted by exam cancellations or university/college closure due to local or national restrictions in your country.

If you’ve paid a tuition fee deposit for a course starting in September 2024, the latest date you can request a refund is Thursday 31 October 2024.

If you’ve paid a tuition fee deposit for a course starting in January 2025, the latest date you can request a refund is Wednesday 12 February 2025.

Submit a refund request

Please note, if you request a refund, indicating that you no longer wish to study with us, this could result in your CAS being withdrawn.

Deferring your offer

If you wish to defer your offer of a place to a later course start date, your fee deposit can usually be transferred and carried forward for up to one year.
