Netball

Welcome to the University of Liverpool Netball club

Netball is one of the largest clubs in the Athletic Union (AU), consisting of two groups – a competitive squad and a participation league (campus- see below). As a club, we aim to cater for a range of abilities and most importantly provide an enjoyable and friendly environment for all our players.

Competitive

The competitive squad is made up of six teams. All teams for the 22/23 season will compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Northern League and we also have our development team.

The club also competes in Varsity and Christie Cup competitions.

Training times

Training takes place at the Sports and Fitness Centre sports hall on the following days and times:

DateTime
Monday 7.00-10.00pm
Tuesday 8.00-9.00am
Thursday 8.00-10.00pm

Performance

After a strong performance in 2019, the first team was promoted to the 1A division of the BUCS Northern Netball League making them a performance team. This means they have an additional strength and conditioning training session on Monday evenings run by the strength and conditioning coach as well as coaching twice a week. They have an extremely dedicated squad of 11 who travel across the north of England and play against very competitive teams each week. The aim for the season is to remain in division 1.

Social sport

Campus Netball is a competition league run internally by Sport Liverpool, in which both students and staff can participate. It is open to everyone, of all abilities and we welcome newcomers to Netball in this league. Matches are played weekly throughout the winter and spring term. We encourage all girls to join the campus league if unsuccessful at trials, as the netball club’s aim is to get as many girls possible playing the sport at the University of Liverpool.

Please read the Campus netball FAQ document for more information, if you have any further questions you can contact the Campus Coordinator via email.

Social events

The club aims to hold a social event every Wednesday, organised by our social secretaries, after matches and once a month we take part in AU fancy dress nights. These nights are known to be the best in the university social calendar and are a bonus to being part of a sports club.
