Athletics and cross country
Welcome to the University of Liverpool Athletics and cross country club
The Athletics and Cross Country Club welcomes athletes of all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced competitors. Whether you’re looking to compete, stay active, or make new friends, our club offers a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone. We take part in all disciplines of the sport, from long and short distance running, jumps and throws, giving members the chance to explore and develop across different disciplines.
Social sport
We host structured cross-country sessions for our members, making the most of Liverpool’s diverse training routes — from track sessions to road runs and scenic park trails. Whether you want to build speed, throw further, or jump higher without the pressure of competing, we also offer athletics sessions tailored to all levels and goals.
For those selected and interested, members have the opportunity to train with the local athletics club, Liverpool Harriers, at Wavertree Park, gaining access to top-class facilities and a supportive athletic community.

Social events
As one of the university’s largest clubs, we’re proud of our lively social scene! In addition to the ‘We Love UOL’ nights (preciously known as AU nights), we host frequent socials and joint events with other clubs, exploring some of Liverpool’s best venues together. Our socials are a great way to unwind, make new friends, and strengthen team spirit beyond training.
We also organise exciting trips away, including warm-weather training camps, giving members the chance to bond, travel, and train in new environments.
Plus, our active Strava group keeps everyone connected, letting members share their runs and add a bit of friendly competition.
