The SEM SRF supports academic and industrial partners in characterising advanced and natural materials for the energy transition and for cleaner, safer environments, using state-of-the-art scanning electron microscopy and associated techniques.
About the facility
We have long-standing expertise in the development and application of electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) for materials research. The facility works with national and international academic groups and industrial partners on electron microscopy challenges in engineering, physical sciences, Earth and environmental sciences, and health and biosciences.
We are proud to be a LEAF Silver Award Laboratory (2025) - recognising our commitments to laboratory sustainability and efficiency.
