About
I am a Senior Lecturer and the Deputy Head of the Department of Politics, having joined in 2017 as a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations. Previously, I worked as a Teaching Associate at Aston University and as an Associate Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University. I graduated with a PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2016. The research was published as a book by Palgrave in 2019 with the title 'Foundations of Just Cross-Cultural Dialogue in Kant and African Political Thought'. Prior to this, I completed an MA in Research Methods in Politics and International Relations and a BA in Politics and Philosophy at the University of Sheffield.
My areas of research specialism are critical border and migration studies, solidarity and activism, with a particular focus on Europe and responses to bordering. I have also worked on Kantian philosophy and African political thought, with a focus on Pan-Africanism and Négritude.
I teach a number of modules on political theory, as well as a third year specialism on migration studies, 'Solidarity, Activism and Borders in the EU'.
I am Deputy Director of the Europe and the World Centre and a Board Member of the Manchester Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.
