Research
My research sits at the intersection of Political Geography, Applied Political Theory and International Relations and focuses on borders, migration and solidarity in Europe, with a particular interest in the Greek borderzones of the EU. I have worked since 2017 on mapping changes and developments in European bordering practices, particularly around displacement and encampment. As an activist-scholar, I am also interested in experiences of community, worldmaking and solidarity that take place often in opposition to systems of securitisation and exclusion. I have published extensively on border governance, citizenship, visual politics and provisions for refugees, as well as on Racial Capitalism and the Migration Fix.
In the past, I have also worked on cross-cultural interactions and how these can be achieved justly. My book 'Foundations of Just Cross-Cultural Dialogue in Kant and African Political Thought' explored these questions in the context of anti-colonial and postcolonial scholarship.
I am interested in supervising PhD students in the areas of European bordering, Racial Capitalism, migrant solidarity and activism, as well as in African political thought.
