About
Dr. Yuri Diaz Fernandez has several years of experience on Nanotechnology, Surface Science, Chemistry of Materials, and Colloidal Chemistry. He has expertise on the design and synthesis of supramolecular systems and self-assembled nanostructured materials for different applications, including antibacterial surfaces, chemical catalysis, and molecular sensing. He is also involved in the characterization of nanomaterials, surfaces, and biological systems using different electron microscopy techniques. He has been actively working in challenging cross-disciplinary research activities at different research institutions across Europe, including University of Pavia (Italy), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland), Institut Laue-Langevin (France), Swiss Light Source (Switzerland), Diamond Light Source (United Kingdom), and European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (France).
YDF was a fellow of the Training in Italian Laboratories program, sponsored by “The Abdul Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics” (ICTP), under the aegis of the “United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization” (UNESCO). During his scientific career, YDF have received the recognition of the Royal Society of Chemistry (Journal Grant for International Authors, London 2005), the Price of National Agency of Nuclear Energy (Havana 2004), the Best Graduate Price on Scientific Research (Chancellor of Nuclear Science Institute, Havana 2004), and several grants to develop scientific research. He is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (United Kingdom), Fellow of the International Centre for Cooperation and Development (CICOPS Italy), and Member of the EPSRC Directed Assembly Network (United Kingdom). YDF work has been recognised by the JMCB Emerging Investigators 2016 themed collection.
YDF has been recently appointed as a Senior Research Fellow of BBSRC National Biofilm Innovation Centre (UK).
