About
I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences on the Teaching and Scholarship career pathway.
My scholarship focuses on the following areas.
* Working with students as partners - Developing and running the Peer Assisted Learning scheme in mathematics, with a focus on peer support, transition, and confidence-building. Supervising student-led SSLC enhancement projects that respond to student feedback and contribute to curriculum and assessment development. Running undergraduate summer internships focused on learning and teaching development, including resource creation and evaluation of educational initiatives
* Active learning in mathematics - Designing and implementing flipped classroom approaches that support problem-solving, discussion, and deeper understanding of core mathematical concepts. Using polling and structured questioning in lectures to promote participation, check understanding, and provide timely feedback
* Mathematical community and student belonging - Designing Welcome Week transition activities that support early engagement and confidence in studying university-level mathematics. Running a weekly Maths Café to provide an informal, supportive space for peer learning and staff–student interaction. Organising maths quiz nights and informal learning events that combine social engagement with mathematical thinking. Supporting international and diverse student cohorts through inclusive activities that facilitate connections and a sense of belonging.
